Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya is a matchless personage in the annals of modern India, eminent as an architect of the first national educational policy, the founder of one of Asia’s largest centre of learning, Banaras Hindu University. He represented Indian people in the Provincial Assembly and the Central Council continuously for 30 years. He was one of the starting members of Indian National Congress.
The Banaras Hindu University, formally established on Basanta Panchami, Tuesday 8th Feb.1916, will complete 100 years of its glorious existence on Basanta Panchami, Friday 12th Feb. 2016. The University is celebrating its centenary year. Several new initiatives are being taken and different programs are organized during the celebration (which started from Saturday 24th Jan.).

The University is celebrating its centenary year and a number of new initiatives are being taken in the centenary year. Along with a number of academic, cultural, sports and co-curricular events, some major initiatives are being undertaken.
The University and some other national/ international organizations have prepared several documentaries on the event of centenary year of the University. This includes documentaries on centenary celebration, its founder, the University and its illustrious record. The documentary prepared by Rajya Sabha TV is the latest one in the series.
The University is celebrating its centenary year and a number of events of various types are taking place in the University. This includes academic conferences, cultural functions, sports events, co-curricular activities and programs for students’ welfare. While some events are University-wide, different departments/ faculties organize various academic events as part of centenary year celebration.
The University is taking up a number of new initiatives in its Centenary year under the leadership of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Girish Chandra Tripathi. A systematic process of consultation with various stakeholders of the University has been initiated to develop centennial vision of the University.
